Autumn, fall, whatever you call it – its the favourite time of year for many people, myself included. Its a time for all things warm and snuggly, for jumping in puddles, wrapping up warm, long walks in the woods, and child-sized muddy boot prints which squelch their way across your clean kitchen floor. Here’s 10 reasons to love it:

1. the changing leaves

Without doubt, the best thing about fall is the gorgeous colours. There’s nothing better than being out for a walk in the morning, feeling the crunch of frosty brown leaves under your shoes.

2. the drinks

Whatever your poison is, be it coffee, hot chocolate, or those pumpkin-spice latte things that Starbucks do, fall is objectively the best season for hot drinks.

3. the fashion

Scarves, beanies, chunky knits, and vibrant colours. Sound good to you?

4. rain

At first, the idea that rain can be a good thing might sound foreign to some people. But I can assure you that there’s something truly special about sitting inside in the warmth, hearing the pitter-patter of rain drops on the roof.  Or re-living your childhood by stamping in the biggest puddle you can find. Or smelling the sweet scent that comes after the rain has fallen, carried to you on a damp breeze.

5. pumpkins

pumkins, halloween, jack-o-lantern, autumn, fall, winter, october

Carve them into jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. Turn them into a pie. Roast them. They’re integral to the fall season.

6. the walks

Fall is a great time to sally forth into the outside world. Grab a kid or two, wrap a scarf around your nose, and wander the yellow streets, taking in the brisk, sharp air.
